Summary
A new study published in the New England Journal of Medicine reports that a one-time gene-editing therapy using CRISPR technology showed promising results in lowering cholesterol and triglyceride levels for at least a year in people with severe forms of high cholesterol. The therapy, developed by CRISPR Therapeutics, mimics a natural genetic mutation to block an enzyme that prevents the breakdown of bad cholesterol and triglycerides.
